About the Certificate

The School of Middle Eastern and North African Studies offers a graduate certificate in Middle Eastern Culture and Pedagogy. This is a non-degree certificate completed over two semesters. It is designed mainly for Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistants (FLTAs), but is also available to those exploring advanced study, K-12 teachers, and other professionals.

Certificate Requirements

  • One graduate course in pedagogy or Middle Eastern language pedagogy (3 units)
  • Two MENAS graduate courses in culture, gender, history, Islamic studies, language, linguistics, literature, or politics (6 units)
  • One additional MENAS graduate course or graduate course in another discipline (3 units)
