Salman Alrashood

I obtained my bachelor's degree in Arabic from Imām Muḥammad Ibn Suʿūd Islamic University. Over the years, I have developed an interest in Arabic linguistic tradition and its intersection with Qurʾānic studies, fiqh, and uṣūl al-fiqh. I have been working for over ten years with Dr. Musāʿad al-Ṭayyār on al-Ṭabarī’s tafsīr and  Qurʾānic studies, from qirāʾāt to rasm al-Muṣḥaf, etc. 

Subsequently, I joined the Department of Islamic and Arabic Studies at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), teaching general courses and electives for three years. Later, my department at KFUPM sponsored me to pursue graduate studies. I attended Georgetown University and, in the summer of 2026, obtained my master’s degree from the Arabic and Islamic Studies Department. I have worked with professors in the Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies and the Department of Linguistics on furthering my knowledge in the fields of language and ideology, theoretical linguistic analysis of Arabic, philology and classical Arabic linguistics, Qurʾānic studies and Arabic’s intersection with tafsīr and qirāʾāt and other Qurʾānic studies subjects, and legal theory's interaction with Arabic and linguistics theory.

Currently, I look forward to continuing my studies in the Ph.D. program in the Department of Middle Eastern and North African Studies at the University of Arizona, focusing on the early history and development of Arabic linguistic analysis and its genealogical intersection with tafsīr, bringing in my other interests in language and ideology and decolonial thought in linguistics.
