SBSRI Research Professorship grant recipient Dr. Azaz (MENAS) examines the emergence of linguistic complexity in Arabic. This grant will be used to develop a task-based approach to help Arabic learners build linguistic complexity - both lexical and syntactic - at the discourse level.

Dr. Maha Nassar has written a book, "Brothers Apart: Palestinian Citizens of Israel and the Arab World." It is set to be released in August of 2017.

Offered by the School of Middle Eastern and North African Studies, or MENAS, the degree will graduate students with proficiency in the Arabic language and knowledge of Arab cultures. This book will examine Talebe Defteri (1913-1919), one of the childrens’ magazines published in the late Ottoman period. This magazine focused mainly on the formation of an ideal child based on the ideas of nationalism and modernity.
