Senior Kendall Johnson has been selected as a Schwarzman Scholar for the graduate program (2021) that will take place in Beijing, China to pursue a degree in Global Affairs. She was selected due to her classroom achievements, high GPA of 4.0, and leadership skills. Kendall is currently spending this academic year in Amman, Jordan, familiarizing herself more with Arabic Language and Literature Studies. Congratulations to our graduates!

Salma Rebhi was offered and accepted the National Center for Interpretation's Graduate Fellowship and will recieve $5,858 for the 2019-2020 school year. 

Nathan Spinder was offered the same fellowship but turned it down in favor of the Foreign Langauge Area Studies Award from the Center of Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Arizona.

I knew that I wanted to continue learning Kurdish while living in Turkey as a high school exchange student. While several universities in the US offer Turkish, the University of Arizona is the only institution that offered quality programs in both languages. Drs. Maha Nassar and Lisa Adeli are awarded the National Endowment for the Humanities in the amount of $90,000 to host a 2019 summer institute for college and university faculty. The theme is "Understanding Middle Eastern Millennials through Literature, Culture and Media."
